2022 CTIA Dorm Moon Festival

September 30, 2022

On Friday, September 9th, we held our Moon Festival celebration for our Derby Dorm students. The Moon Festival, also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival, is a popular holiday celebrated by Chinese culture for over 3,000 years on September 10th. The festival is celebrated on the 15th of the 8th month of the Chinese calendar. It is on this day where the Chinese believe the Moon is at its brightest and fullest size. Mooncakes are a delicious dessert that is typically eaten at the Mid-Autumn Festival.

On Friday night, our students enjoyed an amazing lobster dinner made right in our own cafeteria by our incredible chefs. Along with lobster, there were dumplings, vegetables, rice, boba tea, and of course, mooncakes! The students played basketball, card games, karaoke, and made s’mores by the fire. It was an amazing night and it was so heartwarming to be able to celebrate this holiday with them.

We made sure not to leave our homestay students out of the festivities though. All of our students across 8 states received Mooncake deliveries so that they could celebrate and share this tradition with their Host Families.

Stay tuned to hear more exciting news we have coming up!
